My position: I'm tired of being branded a racist.posted Jul 21st 2006, 5:33AM

Alright, it is time for a real Blog post:
It goes without saying that we live in a soundbyte society where it is acceptable to pass judgement on a person based upon a simple phrase. Politicians and candidates for political offices have been ruined by well placed or horribly placed quotes. But this doesn't happen to just politicians. This happens to everybody who voices their opinion. I am among those who have been misunderstood and even branded as a racist because of this.
Those who know me understand that I am a very opinionated person. I happen to be very opinionated on international issues concerning Japan. I hold opinions on Japan that are not very popular where I am from. Friends have even tried to convince me that voicing such opinions is unwise, especially due to its level of unpopularity. This is not what bothers me, for these friends are actually concerned about my well-being. What bothers me is that many other people simply label me as a simple-minded racist. If people actually bothered to listen to the whole of the idea then they would realize that this isn't the case.
I do not hate Japan because of the people: my intense hatred is for the ideology. Many people would assert that there is nothing more to a country than it's people but this is not true. A country is not defined by just its ethnicities and the flesh upholds the abstract principals but also the abstract principals themselves. People are defined FIRST by the abstract principals around them before they define the these principals. In other words, I feel that the Japanese people are victims of its internationally inconsiderate culture and archaic way of thinking. Badly shaped moral principals need only be taught to damage a person and a people.
A simple soundbyte will not convey such an idea. Judgement should never be passed on people based simply on a remark they are (in)famous for. A true judge never decides until he hears out the whole of the case. I should not suffer because people prefer being a 5-second instant judge and jury.
Ummmm... ok... but you kinda misspelled "racist" and "mammals..." On top of that... mammals are not really a race...
Here's a new word to use instead of the overused term, "racist." How about using "prejudice" instead? "Prejudice" is a broader term that doesn't nessesarily have to refer to a certain group of PEOPLE that usually share SPECIFIC physical characteristics.
It's also good to note that my hate for Japan is based on cuture... not physical characteristics. And the "people hating" is limited to certain politicians and political artists... not every individual living in the country.
